NATURE ART

KRAKAMARKEN
was an experimental area for artists creating
site-specific, nature-related art-
works, or projects, from natures
own raw materials, such as earth, stone, wood, water; clay and sand.
Plants, trees, grass and other living things... using the forces of nature, the wind, the rain, the sun, time.....and the processes of growth and decay.

KRAKAMARKEN
was an institution under the Cultural Department of Randers.
It was started in 1992. The initiator and director of this Nature Art project was the sculptor
.
THE NAME KRAKAMARKEN
Is Danish for The Field of Kraka. Kraka being a princess from Nordic mythology who solved an apparently impossible riddle of arriving before the Viking King Regnar Lodbrog, without any clothes, yet not naked; without having eaten, yet not fasting, and not accompanied by anyone and yet not coming alone. She solved the riddle, just like artists at KRAKAMARKEN - to the benefit of us all - unveiled new experiences in the no-mans land between art and nature.
